About Telangana University
Telangana University is a Public University which was established in 2006 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh by enactment of A.P.State Legislature vide No. 28 of 2006. It was established to cater to the academic pursuits of three backward districts viz. Nizamabad and Adilabad in the state of A.P. The Government of Andhra Pradesh provided over 577 acres of land in Suddapally and Nadipally villages of Dichpally mandal to the University. The total number of courses offered at the Telangana University is 18 with an intake capacity to 28 in all the PG Programmes except MBA, MCA & LLB which has an intake of 30 each. There are more than 150 colleges in the state that are affiliated with the university. Telangana University has educational jurisdiction spread across three districts of Andhra Pradesh namely Adilabad, Medak and Nizamabad. All the admissions are done as per the performance of the candidates in the TUCET/OU Common Entrance Test. The University strictly follows the rule of reservation as per the government norms and ensures strict adherence to the reservations into various categories. Admissions into various courses of study shall be made on the basis of TUCET/OU Common Entrance Test (Conducted by the Osmania University, Hyderabad) rank and eligibility criteria subject to the rule of reservation. At present the University comprises of 4 buildings namely, Administrative Block, Class room Complex, Boys Hostel and Girls Hostel. In addition to these buildings, separate blocks for Commerce and Management, Law and Computers will be constructed in a short period as administrative sanction was accorded by the Government and approved by Executive Council members.

Examination & Evaluation

Theory Examination and Evaluation - The Telangana University follows a system of evaluation based on continuous internal assessment (CIA) and semester end examination (SEE). The 100 marks allotted for each theory paper in a semester are distributed in the ratio of 20:80 between CIA and SEE. CIA includes mid-semester examinations, assignments, presentations, seminars etc.

Mid-Semester Examinations - Usually each mid semester test is held approximately after 40 days of instruction. The dates are notified in the academic calendar. The syllabus and model question paper for each mid semester test will be provided by concerned teachers. Each semester will have two mid semester examinations and the average of these two will be considered. In case the candidate fails to appear for one mid semester test, marks obtained in the other test will be averaged.

Semester End Examination - The semester end exams for odd semesters (I, III, V) are held in Oct/Nov and for even semester (II, IV, VI) in April / May. The SEE shall be of 3 hours duration. An external examiner shall set the question paper. There shall be double valuation. The variation of marks between the two examiners shall not exceed 20%. In case the variation exceeds 20% such scripts shall be referred to a third examiner. The average of the nearest two shall be considered as the final mark. In case the difference between any of the first, second and third valuation are equal, the better average marks shall be taken as the final mark. There shall be no supplementary for the Semester end examination.

Practicals - The practical methodology includes laboratory work, project work, field work, practical training, record work etc. The syllabi, model question paper and the practical schedule will be provided by the respective teachers. Marks are allotted for each practical exam in a year and distributed with equal weightage for CIA and SEE. There shall be one semester-end examination for each practical course. Two examiners, one internal and one external shall do paper setting jointly. Evaluation of the candidates shall be carried out on the basis of his/her performance at the semester-end practical examination.
