About Children's University
Children's University (CU), Gujarat is a State University established specifically to conduct research in areas of overall development of children. CU, Gujarat was established in the city of Gandhinagar in 2009 vide Children's University Act, 2009. It is spread over an area of 8.25 acres. The University conducts research, education, training and extension services for creating right environment and systems to facilitate development of children. Founded by Narendra Modi (then Chief Minister of Gujarat), it is the only Children's University in India. In fact, it is the only university in the entire world that aims to strengthen the younger generation from minus nine months to eighteen years. It is affiliated with the University Grants Commission. CU, Gujarat follows the motto - Every Child Matters. The University is involved in providing Programmes of In-Service Training for Teachers, Anganwadi Workers, Health Workers and others relating issues to various aspects of education relating to children. The University has established 12 Tapovan Research Centres in various parts of the state, one of which is in the campus of the university. These centres educate women about various issues like issues relating to the birth of child, childhood nutrition, physical health, issues relating to early stages of growth etc.
