Explanation: Malnutrition is partly an issue of lack of means of nutrition and partly lack of knowledge about proper method of nutrition in India and is a well-known fact and the government has been taking various steps to address this through a number of programmes.  Thus, this programme is launched by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) in partnership with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, UNICEF and supported by Vodafone India. This programme aims to tackle the challenge of malnutrition in mothers and children across India. Therefore, ministry through its ICDS programme has been providing supplementary nutrition to the pregnant and lactating mothers as well as children upto the age of 6 years.

In a historic encounter, first time after the Indo-Pak war; Indian Army in a joint operation with the Air Force on 9 June 2015 entered into foreign country and engaged with groups of militants and killed them at two locations. Which country is this?: Myanmar

Explanation: The operation was carried out after specific inputs were available with army that militants are seeking another attack on Indian Army and civilians. Thus, in confidence of Myanmar government and army, Indian soldier entered in Myanmar  territory inside for 2 km and killed nearly 50 militants. The militants killed in this operation belong to group ULFA - Militants belonging to People's Liberation Army (PLA), United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL). This operation has been seen major retaliation by Indian Army against the terrorist/ militants after last week's ambush of an Army convoy in which 18 soldiers were killed in Manipur's Chandel district, the deadliest attack on security forces in two decades. Thus, the Myanmar hot pursuit signals massive change in India’s strategy.

The chief vigilance officer (CVO) has unearthed a recruitment scam involving top management of the public-sector company which engaged and permitted to commercially mine uranium for India's nuclear power needs, is alleged to have illegally hired junior managerial-level employees over more than a decade?: Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL)

Explanation: CVO has recommended a detailed investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the department of atomic energy (DAE). For one particular recruitment round, in 2013, the anti-graft official has recommended an immediate registration of case by CBI after a report sent in February 2015 names the UCIL chairman & managing director, Diwakar Acharya, besides others, for illegally hiring officials in 2013. Also as per the report submitted states that UCIL violated the instructions of the department of public enterprise, Government of India, regarding recruitment of management trainees. The criteria for screening applications were arbitrary and discriminatory, in violation of Article 14 of the Constitution. The selection committee did not have any criteria for assessing performance of candidates.

Union Govt. on 9 June 2015 officially added three more districts into the National Capital Region (NCR) thus extending the span of the NCR. Which three districts are these?: Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) and Jind and Karnal (Haryana)

Explanation: This decision to extend the NCR was announced by Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu after a meeting of the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) in New Delhi on 9 June. Apart from this, a committee has been appointed to look into the demands for the inclusion of more areas in NCR. With this the total number of districts included in NCR has risen to 22. It now includes 13 districts from Haryana (Faridabad, Gurgaon, Mewat, Rohtak, Sonepat, Rewari, Jhajjar, Panipat, Palwal, Mahendragarh (Narnaul), Bhiwani, Jind and Karnal), 6 districts from Uttar Pradesh (Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Gautam Budh Nagar, Baghpat and Muzaffarnagar) and 2 districts from Rajasthan (Alwar and Bharatpur), apart from Delhi. It is worth mentioning that while decision to include Muzaffarnagar, Jind and Karnal in NCR was taken in July 2013, the inclusion was kept in abeyance as there was a thinking that the addition of new districts to NCR should not be allowed till their infrastructure reached a certain level.

In a major setback to Arvind Kejriwal's government, Delhi Police had arrested Law minister  Jitender Singh Tomar, who was forced to quit after being arrested and sent to police remand for four days. He has been accused of what?: Forging two of his degrees and a migration certificate

Explanation:  According to Delhi police, Tomar is alleged to have forged his BSc degree from Awadh University, Faizabad, and LLB degree from Tilka Manjhi University, Bhagalpur. Moreover, the migration certificate submitted to Tilka Manjhi University for admission to LLB is from Bundelkhand University whereas he graduated from Awadh University. The FIR was registered under different sections (120B, 420, 467, 468 and 471 IPC). Special commissioner Deepak Mishra roped in a team of veteran officers. Joint CP Ranveer Singh and DCP Prem Nath were stationed at Hauz Khas while DCP P S Kushwah was handling the operations on the ground with a 30-strong team. The whole episode was very depletive for the kejriwal government which work on high moral of ethics and corruption free government.

As PETA's numerous investigations found, Mumbai's Victoria industry is inherently cruel and dangerous, and we applaud the order of the honourable court to ensure that Victorias will ultimately no longer ply in Mumbai. PETA and PFA also provided the court with evidence of cruelty to horses from its numerous investigations of Mumbai's horse-drawn Victoria industry. These reports revealed that the horses were often injured, sick or severely malnourished and that they were forced to stand amidst their own waste in filthy and decrepit stables. Reports further revealed that the horses were frequently denied adequate rest, water and veterinary care. The court's decision is supported by numerous celebrities, including Anushka Sharma, Arjun Rampal, Zeenat Aman, Hema Malini, Mahesh Bhatt, John Abraham, Pooja Bhatt, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sunny Leone, Dino Morea and choreographer Sandip Soparrkar and his supermodel wife, Jesse Randhawa, as well as many others who took to Twitter, met with concerned government officials or helped in other ways to rid Mumbai of horse-drawn Victorias.
