Great Britain on 29 November 2015 won the 2015 Davis Cup tennis title by defeating Belgium 3-1 at Ghent in Belgium. This is the second Davis cup for Britain. When was 1st Davis cup won by the Great Britain?: 1936

Explanation: It was the first title since 1936 which was won by defeating Australia. Overall, it was the tenth title for the team in the competition’s 116-year history. However it is worth to mention that Britain has won 2015 Davis cup after 79 years. So far, Australia, the Czech Republic and the United States are the only countries to have held both Davis Cup and Fed Cup titles in the same year.

Explanation: World No. 12 Indian badminton player P V Sindhu won women’s singles title at the USD 120,000 Macau Open Grand Prix Gold after defeating Japan’s Minatsu Mitani on 29 November 2015. She thus, won 3rd time the Macau Open Grand prix Gold and made hat tric. The match was lasted for an hour and six minutes in which Sindhu produced a dominating game to notch up a 21-9 21-23 21-14 win against sixth seed Mitani. In this match, the Japanese saved three match points but a composed Sindhu didn’t panic and waited for Mitani’s error and she soon send the shuttle wide again to help Sindhu complete her hat trick of titles.

This move is seen as reflecting former board chief and current Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) president Srinivasan's diminishing hold in board's power politics. Therefore, darbha-based lawyer Shashank Manohar at the age of 58-year who enjoys a clean and credible image, will take over the reins of BCCI for the second time, after his last stint from 2008 to 2011. On 4 October 2015, he elected as the President of Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) as 30th president at the board's Special General Meeting (SGM) following a consensus over his name, which ensured an unusually smooth transition of power following the unfortunate demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya.

First time in last 111 years, which country created history by entering the finals of the Davis Cup?: Belgium

Explanation: Belgium will now host Britain in the final from 27 to 29 November 2015 in a repeat of their 1904 final when the Britons won 5-0 at Wimbledon. However since 1904, Belgium reached its first Davis Cup final on 20 September 2015. This new event taken place when Steve Darcis defeated Federico Delbonis in the decisive fifth match against Argentina to win 3-2.  Argentina, which has never won the Davis Cup, was looking for a fifth final in the team competition. Britain defeated arch-rivals Australia 3-1 to reach their first Davis Cup final since 1978. Britain last won the prestigious tennis team title way back in 1936.

BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya passed away in Kolkata on 20 September 2015 following a massive cardiac arrest. He was 1st elected as president of BCCI in 2001. When was he elcetd as ICC president?: 1997

Explanation: Jagmohan Dalmiya passed away in Kolkata on 20 September 2015. Jagmohan Dalmiya entered the BCCI folds in 1979 and played a crucial hand in bringing the World Cup to the sub-continent in 1987. He was also instrumental in resuming cricketing ties with South Africa after apartheid and later transformed the way the world looked at Indian cricket by simply it a stronghold of cricket, financially. He won the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) elections soon after but was sidelined after the emergence of N Srinivasan. However, Dalmiya took over the reins of the cricket board for a second time in March 2015, after a gap of 10 years when N Srinivasan was sidelined due to the IPL probe.

Which Indian weightlifters on 8 September 2015 won a gold medal in the 62 kg category of the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) being held in Apia, Samoa?: Deepak Lather

Explanation: India is being represented by 25 athletes in eight disciplines out of the nine being competed in the CYG. Under that, 15-year-old Deepak finished with a total of 258 kg with 120 kg in snatch, a new CYG record, and 138 kg in clean and jerk. However, this was India’s second gold in weightlifting after Jamjang Deru (17-year-old) who won a gold medal in the 56 kg category on the opening day of the event.

The decision as taken when Durban was the only candidate left when Edmonton, Canada withdrew its bid in February, citing costs. In the same assembly, it was also voted to increase the number of compulsory sports at the games from 10 to 16. The games are scheduled to open 18th July 2022, marking the birthday of South Africa's first black president, Nelson Mandela, who died in 2013.
