Pankaj Advani won 11th World Billiards Championships

  1. Ace Indian cueist Pankaj Advani on 12 Dec 2016 won his 11th World Billiards (150-Up format) Championships title by beating Peter Gilchrist of Singapore in the summit clash in Bengaluru.
  2. In the past, Advani beat multiple world champion Gilchrist by six games to three in a gripping final contest to wrap up his 16th world title overall.

Chad le Clos Breaks Own World Record

  1. Summer Olympics silver medal winenr South African swimmer Chad le Clos broke his own world record in the men’s 100m butterfly final of FINA short course world swimming championships held at Windsor,Ontario.
  2. His new record timing is 48.08 sec to complete the 100m butterfly race has beaten his earlier best of 48.44 sec which he set at the 2014 world championships.

Peter Gilchrist Wins Billiard Title

  • Peter Gilchrist of Singapore defeated Sourav Kothari to win the 2016 IBSF World Billiards Long Up title that was held at Bengaluru, India. 
  • Peter defeated Sourav by 883 points with score of 1500-617.
  • Rupesh Shah and Dhvaj Haria of India, jointly shared the 3rd position.

  1. Former basketball player Michael Jordan has been named the highest-paid athlete of all time by Forbes followed by famous golfer Tiger Woods.
  2. He has debuted in the North American professional league in 1984 & till now in his career Michael Jordan won $1.7 billion through most of the money that is came from sponsorship contracts, especially from the collaborations with Nike.

Mukesh Kumar makes history in Golf Asia Tour

  1. Indian Golfer Mukesh Kumar at the age of 51 became the oldest golfer to win an Asian Tour title on December 4, 2016 at Delhi Golf Club (DGC) after winning the Panasonic Open India. 
  2. Mukesh has won 123 PGTI titles, scored two-under 70 in the final round which made his total to 10-under 206 to claim the trophy.

Praful Patel appointed as AFC senior VP

  1. All India Football Federation President Praful Patel has been appointed as a Senior Vice-President of Asian Football Confederation.
  2.  Under Patel's tutelage, India won the rights to host the Fifa U-17 World Cup India 2017 and hosted the AFC U-16 Championship in September 2016.

Indian women won Asia Cup

  1. Indian women won Aisa cup by beating Pakistan on 4th Dec 2016.
  2. Thus India maintained their supremacy in the Asia Cup by beating arch-rivals Pakistan for their sixth title in as many editions in Bangkok.
  3. It was the second time that India got the better of Pakistanin the competition, having beaten them by five wickets in the league stage besides remaining unbeaten in five games en route to the final.
  4. Thus, India also managed to maintain their enviable record in the continental event, having won all the six editions to have taken place so far. 
  5. The first four editions starting from 2004 were played in the 50 over format and the following two have been in the shortest format. In the last edition held in Guangzhou in 2012, Indialifted the trophy after defeating Pakistan in the final.
