About National Institute Of Technology - Nit Warangal
National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal was founded in October 10, 1959 by the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. It is the first among the 17 Regional Engineering Colleges established in India. It started as the Regional Engineering College, Warangal (RECW) and was initially affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University. Later in 1976, the college got its affiliation from Kakatiya University. Finally in 2002, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal was accorded the status of Deemed University and was renamed as NIT Warangal. It has Eleven Academic Departments and a few advanced research centres in various disciplines of engineering and pure sciences. NIT Warangal is a residential Institute with nearly 200 faculty, 2500 students and 600 administrative and supporting staff and is a self-contained residential campus located in a beautiful wooded land of about 250 acres. It is an Institute of National Importance awarding bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in engineering, technology, basic sciences and management. Location - It is located in the northern Telangana town of Warangal in Andhra Pradesh. The Campus is located on both sides of the National Highway No. 202 (Hyderabad - Warangal - Khammam).
