About Indian Institute Of Information Technology And Management - Iiitm Gwalior
The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior, is a Deemed University, which is the first IIIT established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 1997, as an initiative to foster information technology (IT) and management education in India. In 1992, the Ministry of HRD set-up a high powered committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. P G Reddy. The team reviewed the overall scenario in the country with regard to software education and training and recommended, setting up of Advanced Information System Institutes on the pattern of IITs and IIMs in the country and after further proceedings IIITM was established in 1997 as a centrally funded, autonomous institution registered under the Societies' Registration Act and governed by its Board of Governors. The foundation stone of the Institute was laid on Jan 17, 1996. It is popularly known as IIITM Gwalior or IIITM-G. The Institute was accorded the status of Deemed University in the year 2001. The Institute Campus is spread over 160 acres (0.65 km2) amidst picturesque landscape in the foothills of the Gwalior Fort. The Campus is self-contained and equipped with all the state of the art facilities necessary for the all-round development of the students personalities. It provide Integrated Postgraduate Programmes like M.Tech., MBA and Ph D. The Academic block is divided into 5 sections viz.A,B,C,D,E-Blocks. Location - It is located in the city of Gwalior, in the northern part of the state of Madhya Pradesh.
