About Icfai University
ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand (hereinafter referred to as the University) was established under the ICFAI University Act 2003 (Act No.16 of 2003) passed by the Uttaranchal Legislative Assembly and assented to by the Governor on July 08, 2003. The ICFAI University, Dehradun, (IUD) is sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) which is a non-profit educational society established in 1984 under the Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Area) Public Societies Registration Act, 1350 F (Act No.1 of 1350F), with the objective of imparting training in finance and management to students, working executives and professionals in India. It is included in the list of universities maintained by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, vide their letter No. F.9-26/2003 (CPP-I) dated July 22, 2005. The Distance Education Council (DEC) has approved the programs of the ICFAI University, Dehradun. The Bar Council of India has accorded its approval for imparting three year and five year Law Courses at ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand and award degrees in law. The University has received the approval of NCTE to offer the Bachelors Program in Education through its constituent college the ICFAI College of Education. It offers a number of educational programs in management, finance, banking, insurance, accounting, law, information technology, arts, commerce, education and science & technology at bachelor’s and master’s levels on full-time campus and distance learning formats. The University also allows private candidates to enrol in various programs if they satisfy the eligibility criteria. The University does not provide any courseware, nor conduct any contact classes, nor offer any other support services to private candidates. Such candidates have to prepare for the programs on their own as per the curriculum and are required to attend the examinations, as per the rules and regulations of the University. The University has no study centres/branches outside the State of Uttarakhand. The ICFAI University is in the process of establishing a state of art campus with all the facilities near Dehradun. The university has obtained on lease 95,532 sq. ft. of built up area in at Selaqui off Chakratha Road, Dehradun for conducting various academic programs of University. The program is almost equivalent to one semester and carries a weightage of 18 units, which is normally equivalent to six academic courses. The internship is a vehicle for introducing students to real-life situation, which cannot be simulated in the classroom. It requires the students to undergo the rigour of professional environment both in form and substance. It exposes them to technical skills and helps them to acquire social skills by drawing them into contact with real professionals. A representative of the industry/organization also guides the student and assists the faculty in monitoring the student’s progress.
