This list also have emerging economies such as Russia, China, Brazil and South Africa are ranked ahead of India. However, the major countries ranked above India include France (14th rank), the US (17th), the UK (19th) and Germany (22nd). Among BRICS nations, Russia comes on the top at 26th position, followed by China at 64th, Brazil at 78th place and South Africa at 92nd.

In a series of high level of execution in North Korea, on 12 May 2015 North Korea has executed its defence chief on treason charges. What is the name of Defence Chief ?: Hyon Yong Chol

Explanation: Hyon Yong Chol, who heads the isolated country's military, was purged and then executed by firing squad with an antiaircraft gun, watched by hundreds of people in North Korea. The execution took place because Hyon, spoke at a security conference in Moscow in April, where it said to have shown disrespect to Kim by dozing off at a military event. Kim ordered the execution of 15 senior officials this year as punishment for challenging his authority. In 2013, Kim purged and executed his uncle, Jang Song Thaek, once considered the second most powerful man in Pyongyang's leadership circle, for corruption and committing crimes damaging to the economy, along with a group of officials close to him. Kim Jong Un took power after his father's death in 2011.

China has adopted which standard to calculate its balance of payments data, the Chinese currency regulator notified  on 12 May 2015, as authorities work to turn the yuan into a global reserve currency.?: International Monetary Fund's (IMF) standards

Explanation: China wants to internationalise the yuan partly to provide an alternative to the dollar as a global currency, and in turn reduce its own vulnerability to fluctuations in the greenback. Thus under the new standard, China's reserve assets will be accounted for under the financial account, and a new sub category for non-reserve assets will be added to the financial account. Therefore, China will apply the IMF standards when calculating flows in its current account and financial and capital account from this year. The new accounting standard left China with current account surplus of $78.9 billion in the first quarter, and a concomitant $78.9 billion deficit in the financial and capital account.

Explanation: Leaders of the emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) had last year reached an agreement to establish the New Development Bank, with its headquarters in Shanghai, in which as per agreement, India got the right to nominate the first president. Thus KV amath is appointed as First President of 100 Billion Dollar Bank. K V Kamath age 67, is the non-executive Chairman of the India's largest private sector bank ICICI and also the non-executive chairperson of the IT bellwether Infosys. The Bank is likely to be operationalised within one year as 'New Development Bank' and he have a five year term at the bank. Development Bank is being set up by the five nation grouping, BRICS. India's presidency will be followed by Brazil and Russia who will have five years term each under an agreement reached after intense negotiations among the five country-grouping.
