Explanation: According to a controversial provision in the Bill, recording of phone calls intercepted by investigating agencies will be admissible in the court as evidence. The Bill also puts the onus of proving the innocence on the accused. Thus the Gujarat Control of Organized Crime Bill (GUJCOC) was earlier returned by the President of India thrice to the state government for reconsideration 2004 and 2008 by the then president AJP Abdul Kalam and Pratibha Patil respectively who had suggested some amendments in the provisions related to telephone interception and confession made before police officer being considered as evidence in court. The Bill is a modified version of the original 2003 Gujarat Control of Organized Crime (GUJCOC) Bill which was not cleared by the earlier NDA and UPA government for last one decade. The GUJCOC Bill was made on the lines of the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

 Explanation:  Offsets were introduced in 2005 with an objective of developing a defence industrial base in the country. However, it has failed to deliver to its full potential. Thus the new guideline will not only provide a boost to the 'Make in India' programme in the defence sector but will also bring in greater FDI as Under the new provisions, value of the FDI by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and the eligible products being manufactured in India will be counted against Offset obligations. One more reson for the changes in offset policy is that it has led to delays in critical acquisitions, they said. In some cases, negotiations and the finalisation of offset contracts have taken an equal if not longer time than that for the prime contract itself .

Explanation: The decision was made by the health ministry of Delhi state government which was in pursuance of series of directions from the Supreme Court to ban gutkha in the city. So, the purpose of banning gutkha was not served. Thus with this new mandate we may see the decrease in sale of this poison product in the national capital region.

Explanation: The accident took place in the evening of 24 March 2015 at south-west off the Goa coast in Arabian sea in which Lieutenant Kiran Shekhawat died in the crash of the Dornier aircraft belonging to the Indian Navy. She was commissioned into the Navy in 2010. She was training to be an Observer – an officer in charge of all sensors on board a surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft. Lieutenant Shekhawat was also part of the Navy Woman Officer Contingent – the first ever all-woman officer contingent – that participated in this year’s 2015 at Republic Day Parade.
