| Assam Engineering College was established in 1955 is the first Undergraduate Engineering College in the North eastern India. It started with Civil Engineering discipline, and within a few years other departments came into existence. The College is surrounded on two sides by the Historical Deepor Beel (a huge Natural Wetland now declared a Bird Sanctuary by the Government of India) and evergreen hills on the outskirts of Guwahati city, about 13 kms. on the west. The College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education AICTE. It offers Bachelor courses (BE) in the fields of Electrical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Industrial & Production Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering & Mechanical Engineering. It also offers Masters courses on Computer Application (MCA), Computer Science & Engineering (ME), Civil Engineering (ME), Industrial & Production. Engineering (ME). It also offers Ph. D facility in Soil Mechanics & Hydraulics. All the Courses are affiliated to Gauhati University. Location - It is located in Jalukbari area of Guwahati city. The College campus is about 9 kms. away from the Guwahati Main Railway Station, 5 kms. from the Inter-State Bus Terminus and 8 kms. from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
